The high visibility conference was also attended for the 6th time by the President of VZMD, Mr. Kristjan Verbič, who is a member of Better Finance's Executive Board. He gave a presentation at the meeting of Better Finance’s Legal Committee, which took place on Monday and was followed by General meeting and formal reception. Mr. Verbič also informed the attendees about possible consequences of Slovenian banks expropriations, abolishment of the registry accounts at the Central Securities Clearing Corporation (KDD), as well as activities and opportunities related to VZMD international business-investor programs: Invest to Slovenia (investo.si) and International Investors` Network (investo.international).

The Tuesday’s conference began with opening speeches given by Mr. Guillaume Prache, the Managing Director of Better Finance, and Mrs. Jella Benner-Heinacher, the Deputy Chief Executive of DSW, while Mr. Steven Maijoor, the President of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), was the keynote speaker. The VZMD President discussed with the latter, as well as with the other conference participants, the VZMD’s initiative for the establishment of the European Tribune institute, which had also been presented by him (being a member of the consultative working group of the (CFSC CWG) at ESMA) at the September meeting in Paris.

Throughout the day, different panels took place, among others: “How can we make capital markets work for investors?”, “Boardroom Best Practices – how can we improve efficiency? Board members’ view”, “What could investors expect from board members?”, “Digitalization – the opportunity to improve Cross Border issues?”, “The VW case – legal remedies for investors worldwide”. The events during the day were followed by an evening gala reception.
