investo.si event follow-up: EUROSHAREHOLDERS - Consumer protection

23 June 2008, Ljubljana, Slovenia, EUROSHAREHOLDERS representing 29 national shareholders associations decided this weekend to pool resources in private investor consumer protection. National specialists, such as lawyers, class actions specialists and other finance market experts, will be called upon to assist in cases related to securities business in Europe. This will improve our capabilities as representatives of private investors across the EU, says Jean-Pierre Paelinck, secretary general of EUROSHAREHOLDERS.

The organization founded in 1992, gathered in Ljubljana this weekend for their semi-annual general assembly. Other matters on the agenda included international class actions (including the unfair compensation of European shareholders relative to their US counterparts), cross border proxy voting and systems, takeovers, stock options and other issues related to corporate governance.

On the occasion of this meeting further cooperation with Ecoda (European board members), European Issuers, FECIF (European financial advisors) and European Employee Share ownership association was welcomed.
